Motu takes inspiration from the islands of Aotearoa in the south pacific. The inherent isolation of islands foster a close dependence and close connection to one’s immediate surroundings.


Motu was designed for the boutique german furniture brand Sophisticated Living. They specialize in quality uphoulstery, low volume, bespoke manufacturing and their customer base ranges globally from hotels and resorts, to beach houses and chalets.

Motu needed to function as a modular lounge group ranging in its use from small reading corners all the way to commercial waiting areas and lobbies.
Motu is created with the clients existing portfolio in mind, while making sure to stay true to the concept and emotive experience intended for the product.
